For this reason, Ralph Hofman, EUC Consultant & Horizon Specialist at FONDO, together with Sander Noordijk, Solution Engineer Digital Workspace at VMware, present a session on which pitfalls to avoid. How can we build this excellent experience without downtime. And since this NLVMUG will already feature enough slides, these fine gentlemen will do this using the biggest whiteboard of the Netherlands!

Dat NetApp ONTAP het meest gebruikte externe storage systeem is voor VMware omgevingen staat buiten kijf. ONTAP biedt namelijk vele voordelen en blinkt uit op het gebied van performance, schaalbaarheid, eenvoud en datamanagement mogelijkheden voor virtuele machines, applicaties en data. Net als VMware biedt NetApp hybride cloud oplossingen die het mogelijk maken om applicaties en data eenvoudig van on-prem naar de cloud te brengen.

Ook in de cloud native wereld met de komst van microservices, containers en kubernetes blijft datamanagement een belangrijk topic. Vooral vanwege het gebrek eraan. Kubernetes biedt namelijk geen standaard oplossing voor data orchestratie, backup & restore en diasaster recovery.

DIY is een mogelijkheid, maar in vele gevallen neemt de complexiteit toe, zijn deze oplossingen daardoor lastig te onderhouden en schalen ze niet. Met Astra Control biedt NetApp een enterprise-grade kubernetes datamanagement oplossing voor applicatie consistente backup & restore en disaster recovery mogelijkheden. Af te nemen als software of een als een service, eenvoudig in gebruik en werkt met diverse kubernetes smaken waaronder VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid.

vSphere 8 contains some fantastic enhancements to make life easier for administrators to deal with demanding workloads. In this session, I will cover the new CPU and NUMA enhancements introduced in vSphere 8 and look at the direction of Multi-Chip Module architecture by AMD and Intel in their EPYC and Skylake (Sapphire Rapids) CPU designs.

Implementing micro-segmentation can be complex, as it requires a thorough understanding of your organization’s network and applications. We will delve into the various hurdles and provide strategies for overcoming them. So you can effectively implement security and enhance your security posture.

Organizations must contend with the reality of cybercrime. With an attack occurring every 11 seconds and causing trillions in damages, it’s crucial to have strategies in place to mitigate these threats. Techniques such as zero-trust and micro-segmentation can be effective, but implementation can be challenging.

Cloud Director is van ver gekomen met de NSX-integratie. Initieel was het basic routing en internet toegang. Inmiddels is het uitgebreid met complexere routing, distributed firewall en bridging. In deze sessie deel ik mijn ervaring over gangbare use-cases en laat ze zien in een demo.

NSX is een volwassen netwerk virtualisatie product, waarmee veel netwerk use-cases zijn op te lossen. In combinatie met Cloud Director zijn sommige NSX-features niet altijd op dezelfde manier in te zetten, door de multi-tenancy die het toevoegt. In recente Cloud Director versies is hieraan veel aandacht besteed en zijn de features flink uitgebreid.
In mijn sessie over Cloud Director networking met NSX neem ik je graag mee in de features en use-cases die tegenwoordig mogelijk zijn. Gangbare use-cases zoals internet toegang maar ook route re-distribution naar on-premises netwerken en cloud providers, zijn tegenwoordig goed mogelijk. Naast routing, is bridging naar bijvoorbeeld fysieke apparatuur in het datacenter te realiseerbaar.

In de sessie komt de migratie van NSX-v (al dan niet in combinatie met Cloud Director) niet aan bod.

When ransomware strikes, recovery speed is everything. Knowing what data to recover is just as important as always having a clean backup. In this session, learn how you can quickly search for indicators of compromise across your VMware environment and diagnose which files were impacted by a ransomware attack, and where they are located.

You’ll also see how you can quickly recover and avoid malware reinfection during recovery.

Containers are everywhere & micro-services adoption is happening in a pace organisations cannot keep up with, especially with securing & monitoring micro-services. This session shows how VMware Antrea, NSX & Network Insight can offer the required monitoring & security policies for containers.

In this session I am taking a deep dive into containers networking with VMware Antrea and how integrating containers networking stack with NSX and Network Insight transforms the way how security admins are approaching networking and security policies for containerised/kubernetes workloads.

This is a deep technical session in which I will discuss concepts of containers networking with VMware Antrea, how Aria operations for Networks can discover Antrea flows and finally how NSX DFW can be used in combination with Antrea networking policies to secure micro-services applications running on-top of Antrea clusters.

I have been working in the tech industry for more than 30 years… I started very young! The main thread throughout my career has been systems management. I worked for VMware Benelux as cloud management SE: vROps, Hyperic, Log Insight, vRA.. I then brought Blue Medora to EMEA, a tech partner that wrote plugins for vROps, now known as the TVS suite. I know work on projects for ComDivision around vROps and related products for service providers and major customers.

My major hobbies are astronomy as a volunteer at volkssterrenwacht Urania and my dog.

In this session, Johan van Amersfoort is going to share his experience with designing, building and testing VDI platforms for simulators like combat sims, flight sims, and in this case: F1 Sims 🙂

He will explain the design methodology used, the lessons learned during building and testing, the tools used to troubleshoot UX issues, and show demos along the way. Ow, and as ITQ will bring the F1 Sim to their booth, attendees can actually play around with the F1 Sim for themselves.
